Taylor Swift made a surprise appearance on Saturday Night Live during Dakota Johnson’s opening monologue, drawing cheers from the audience as she joined her friend on stage.
Johnson had been joking about dating musicians and said she had friends who did not judge her for dating “these men” before Swift appeared. She then introduced the singer as “my literal therapist”.
Swift replied: “I’m not your therapist, actually. You just show up once a week at my house with an empty bottle of wine and ask if I want some.”
Johnson answered: “Yeah, well I have manners.”
Swift continued the exchange, saying Johnson would “plop on my couch and overshare” while she would respond, “Damn, that’s crazy.”
“Is that not a therapist?” Johnson asked.
Swift then described trying to end the visits by saying it was getting late and she should go to bed, prompting Johnson to add: “Sleepover, yay!”
“Then I give you a Pedialyte and my security drives you home,” Swift said.
Johnson also joked that she was performing a public service by dating musicians, claiming she was saving women “a lot of money on Zoloft”.
During the monologue, the actor referred to Madame Web still not making any money, joked about breaking up with two musicians since her last appearance on the programme and mentioned making out with Anne Hathaway in Verity.
“Now she’s pregnant, you do the math,” Johnson said.
The appearance came after Johnson starred in Swift’s latest music video for Patient Zero. Johnson also made a surprise appearance at the MTV VMAs last weekend to honour Swift with the Artist Director Honors award.
