Pedro Porro could reportedly consider a move from Tottenham Hotspur to Barcelona or Real Madrid, despite signing a contract extension with the north London club until 2031.
The 27-year-old Spain international is said to be open to returning to his homeland if either of La Liga’s two biggest clubs makes a formal approach. A move would offer the prospect of regular Champions League football and the chance to compete for major honours.
Pedro Porro transfer interest grows
Football Insider reports that Porro would “seriously consider” joining Barcelona or Real Madrid. The defender is understood to be flattered by the interest and increasingly attracted by the prospect of testing himself at the highest level in Spain.
Porro remains an important part of Roberto De Zerbi’s plans at Tottenham and was included in the club’s 2026/27 Premier League squad. He is currently recovering from a hamstring injury, with Spurs indicating that he could return around the time of the match against Chelsea.
Further reports suggest that the interest from Spain is serious. AS has claimed Tottenham could demand around €90 million if they were forced to consider selling, while both Barcelona and Real Madrid continue to monitor the situation.
Tottenham hold strong negotiating position
Porro’s new long-term contract gives Tottenham considerable control over any potential transfer. The length of the deal means the club are not under immediate pressure to sell and could insist on a premium fee.
However, the agreement does not necessarily guarantee that Porro will remain in north London. His ambitions could become a factor if he believes Tottenham are unable to compete consistently for the biggest trophies.
At 27, Porro is entering a stage of his career when major honours may carry increasing weight. Tottenham’s task will be to convince him that the club’s project is progressing quickly enough to retain one of their most valuable players.
