A man and a woman have died after a double shooting in North Philadelphia, with police opening a homicide investigation.
Officers were called to the 2300 block of North 18th Street at about 5.31pm on Saturday, where they found both victims suffering from gunshot wounds.
The pair were taken in police vehicles to Temple University Hospital. Medical staff pronounced them dead at 5.54pm.
The victims, who were adults, have not been publicly identified.
Investigators recovered a firearm at the scene, but police have not released details of a possible suspect or said what may have led to the shooting.
Detectives from the Philadelphia Police Department’s Homicide Unit remained at the scene as they worked to establish a motive.
The investigation is continuing and anyone with information has been urged to contact Philadelphia police.
