Good Morning America host Will Reeve has revealed he is cancer-free after being diagnosed with testicular cancer earlier this year, which had spread to lymph nodes in his abdomen.
Reeve told People he discovered a lump on one of his testicles while showering. His wife, Amanda, encouraged him to seek medical advice, leading to surgery in May to remove the cancerous testicle.
He said he was told he was cancer-free following an appointment on September 8.
Reeve said he had chosen to speak publicly about his illness in the hope that doing so could help others. “I was raised to share one’s struggles if, in doing so, that might help others,” he said.
The broadcaster lost his father, Superman actor Christopher Reeve, in 2004 and his mother, Dana Reeve, in 2006.
Reflecting on his parents’ experiences, he said: “Watching my parents up close take the adversity they faced in their lives and repurpose it into something hopeful left a major impact on my life and how I try to live it.”
