Viktor Gyokeres has admitted he is frustrated by his lack of regular playing time at Arsenal, with uncertainty now surrounding the striker’s future at the club.
The Sweden international has found himself behind Kai Havertz at the start of the campaign, with Havertz starting every Premier League match for Mikel Arteta’s side so far. Gyokeres has not even been used from the bench in some games.
Gyokeres speaks out on Arsenal playing time
Asked about his situation, Gyokeres acknowledged his disappointment while insisting he was concentrating on making the most of any opportunities that come his way.
“Of course it’s frustrating, no matter where it is,” he told Swedish outlet SVT. “You always want to be on the field and contribute, score goals.
“It can be frustrating sometimes but I just try to do my best when I get the chance and focus on what I can control.”
The 28-year-old’s comments come as he considers his position at Arsenal, with initial contact reportedly made with four clubs over a possible move.
Gyokeres scored 21 goals in all competitions last season as Arsenal won the Premier League title and reached the Champions League final. However, the source material states that Arteta appears unconvinced by the striker’s all-round qualities compared with Havertz, despite there being a role for him in the squad.
