A man, a woman, and two young children are dead after a multi-vehicle crash on Wednesday night on Interstate 75 in Oakland County, Michigan. The crash happened about 9:10 p.m. Wednesday. Michigan State Police confirmed on Thursday morning that four people died as a result of the crash, all from the same family and all who were in the same vehicle.  Pontiac Mayor Mike McGuinness identified the victims as 24-year-old Tieree Powell, 24-year-old Zakiera Powell, 4-year-old Malani Powell, and 2-year-old Carter Powell. The currently suspended sheriff of Towns County is now facing criminal charges, the Georgia Bureau of Investigation says. On Thursday, the GBI announced that it had arrested Sheriff Ken Henderson, 67, charging him with theft by deception, false statements and writings, sale of real or personal property to political subdivision by local officer or employee, and three counts of violation of his oath of office. An extreme heat warning issued for the Pittsburgh area enters its second day as the region is dealing with temperatures in the 90s for multiple days this week. A six-day sewage crisis that shut more than a dozen beaches along Massachusetts’s North Shore appears to be drawing to a close, after the city of Haverhill confirmed on Wednesday that the flow of raw wastewater into the Merrimack River had finally been halted — just in time for the Fourth of July holiday weekend and an incoming heatwave.
