A black bear has broken into a car in Whitefish, Montana, in footage showing the animal opening a vehicle door and climbing inside in search of food.
The bear arrived at a property at about 3.30am on Tuesday and spent several moments pawing around the interior before leaving. It appeared not to find the snack it was looking for.
Locals have nicknamed the animal Brutus. Homeowners believe it is the same bear that broke into a car in the area about a month ago.
Brutus is said to make regular visits to the property while looking for ways to reach a rubbish bin. The latest incident was captured on video as the bear approached the car, pulled open the door and climbed in.
Officials have been seeking to move bears roaming in the neighbourhood to nearby Glacier National Park, although the relocation effort remains under way.
Until the animals are moved, residents in the area face the prospect of taking extra care to keep their cars and rubbish secure.
