Benson Boone has described how a fan walked in on him during a backstage bathroom encounter, finding the singer with his trousers and underwear around his ankles.
The 24-year-old “Beautiful Things” singer said the incident took place around two and a half years ago, when he was still beginning his career as a touring artist. He recounted the story during an interview on the Life Uncut podcast.
Boone said he did not have a private bathroom backstage, meaning the facilities were shared with concertgoers. “My bathroom that I had was shared with the audience bathroom. So, like, anyone in the audience could be in the bathroom that I was in, and I didn’t know that,” he said.
He explained that he and his friends had a running joke of completely removing their trousers rather than simply unzipping them. Boone said he entered the bathroom, dropped his clothes to his ankles and began urinating.
“So, I’m standing there and I’m, you know, kind of in my own world, just like doing my thing, taking a piss, and someone walks in and I didn’t look,” he said.
Boone initially assumed the person entering was one of his friends. Instead, he heard a gasp and turned to discover that it was a fan who had come to the show.
“It was so awkward. I was I was horrified. Luckily, great guy. He was super cool,” Boone said. “I ended up pulling up my drawers and shaking his hand, before I washed my hands, by the way.”
