Comedian Carrot Top has been hospitalised in Las Vegas following what has been reported as a suicide attempt. His Friday night performance at the Luxor was cancelled as a result.
The 61-year-old performer, whose real name is Scott Thompson, was reportedly taken to hospital on Friday night, according to TMZ.
In a statement, his representative said: “Mr. Thompson is recovering in the hospital and is receiving the care and support he needs. His family and those closest to him are deeply grateful for the concern, prayers and respectfully ask for privacy.”
Carrot Top has been a long-running performer at the Luxor, where his residency features stand-up comedy built around props and inventions.
He rose to prominence after appearing on Comic Strip Live in the early 1990s and later featured on Star Search. He was a guest judge on Last Comic Standing in 2008 and had a guest-starring role in the HBO series Hacks in 2024.
Throughout his career, he has also appeared as himself in various reality television programmes and documentaries.
