A 19-year-old man from Dearborn, Michigan, has been arrested and charged over allegations involving child sexually abusive material and encouraging others to harm themselves, according to Michigan State Police.
Mochtaba Ahmed Alabudi faces 10 felony counts: one count of child sexually abusive activity, four counts of aggravated possession of child sexually abusive material and five counts of using a computer to commit a crime.
The investigation was launched after the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children and the Michigan Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force received information that Alabudi may have distributed illegal material online. Police also allege that he enticed other people to commit self-harm.
Investigators searched his Dearborn home and seized digital evidence, state police said. The agency has not disclosed further details about the material or the people allegedly targeted.

Alabudi was arraigned at Dearborn’s 19th District Court on 23 September. A judge set his bond at $500,000, according to court records, and he remains in custody at Wayne County Jail.
His next hearing is scheduled for 30 September. Court records indicate the charges could carry a combined maximum sentence of up to 140 years if he were convicted.
Michigan State Police said the allegations remain unproven. Alabudi has not been convicted of any offence.
The force’s Computer Crimes Unit urged parents to discuss safe internet use with their children. Possible child sexual exploitation can be reported to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children’s CyberTipline.
