Dejan Kulusevski’s injury return is moving closer, with the Tottenham forward continuing his rehabilitation at specialist facilities in Sweden after more than 500 days on the sidelines.
The 26-year-old has already resumed full first-team training under head coach Roberto De Zerbi, marking a significant step in his recovery from complex knee surgery.
Dejan Kulusevski continues training in Sweden
Tottenham correspondent Alasdair Gold reports that Kulusevski has used his time away from the club to maintain his conditioning at home in Sweden rather than take a complete break from training.
His progress was briefly interrupted by a minor physical issue as he adapted to the intensity of regular first-team sessions. However, he has since returned to work alongside his Spurs team-mates.
The immediate priority is to build a consistent run of high-intensity training sessions. If he avoids further niggles, Kulusevski is expected to be included among the substitutes in the near future.
Tottenham target late October return
Tottenham are understood to be targeting a comeback after the next international break, with the match against Manchester United or one of the subsequent fixtures among the possible opportunities for his return.
Kulusevski’s comeback would provide a major boost for De Zerbi after the Sweden international spent more than 16 months out following knee surgery.
The Tottenham manager has previously described the player’s return as being like “a new signing”, highlighting the creative ability, resistance to pressure and tactical versatility he could bring to the side once fully match-fit.
