Chris Brown and Usher’s Atlanta concert has prompted complaints from fans after the opening show of their five-night run began about two-and-a-half hours late and featured no songs performed together.
The R&B singers were due to perform at Mercedes-Benz Stadium on Thursday, but concertgoers said the show did not start until around 10pm. Fans also claimed that large sections of the planned setlist had been removed.
Some attendees described the performance as “very underwhelming”, while others called for refunds from Ticketmaster. Several said the sets felt rushed and declared they would not attend another concert by either performer.
The reaction fuelled speculation that Brown and Usher were involved in a backstage dispute, with fans suggesting a feud could explain the absence of joint performances and the shortened show.
Brown appeared to dismiss the rumours in a message posted to his Instagram Story, which read: “Internet 🧢. don’t fall for it.” He did not say specifically what he was referring to.
The concert was intended to mark a record for the pair, with the five performances at Mercedes-Benz Stadium set to make them the first artists to play five shows during a single tour stop. The run surpasses Beyoncé’s previous record of four.
Brown and Usher are due to perform four more times in Atlanta, with further shows scheduled for Friday, Sunday, Tuesday and Wednesday.
