Liverpool are determined to retain Rio Ngumoha amid interest from Bayern Munich, with the club reportedly ruling out a sale of the highly rated teenager during the January transfer window.
The 18-year-old winger has emerged as one of the most promising young players in European football after making significant progress at Anfield. Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain are also understood to be monitoring his development.
Liverpool working on Rio Ngumoha contract
Liverpool are also making progress in negotiations over an improved long-term contract for Ngumoha. His current agreement runs until 2028, but the club are keen to secure his future on better terms.
There is optimism that an agreement could be reached during the next international break, which would ease speculation surrounding his position at Anfield.
Ngumoha is said to be happy at Liverpool and focused on continuing his development under manager Andoni Iraola. The club believe he can become an important first-team player in the coming years.
He has made 43 senior appearances since becoming Liverpool’s youngest debutant at the age of 16 in January 2025, scoring three goals during that time.
The winger’s pace, technical ability and willingness to take on defenders have helped attract attention from some of Europe’s biggest clubs. Bayern’s interest has underlined his growing reputation, but Liverpool have no intention of entertaining approaches for his signature.
