California Governor Gavin Newsom joined Leonardo DiCaprio, Robert De Niro and Tobey Maguire for a dinner at Nobu in Malibu, amid speculation over whether he may seek the presidency in 2028.
The four were seen leaving the celebrity-frequented restaurant on Friday night. De Niro is a co-owner of the venue.
DiCaprio, De Niro and Maguire were wearing hats, while Mr Newsom wore a white button-down shirt and grey jacket.
DiCaprio and Maguire, who are close friends, were dressed in near-identical black outfits.
Gavin Newsom and the 2028 presidential race
The dinner comes as attention turns to the potential Democratic field for the next presidential election.
In the most recent poll by Bowling Green State University among Democrats, Mr Newsom received 14 per cent support. Former vice-president Kamala Harris was the leading candidate on 17 per cent.
It is unclear whether the actors were discussing a possible presidential run with the governor or simply meeting for sushi.
