Alexis Mac Allister posted a seven-word message on Instagram after Liverpool were held to a frustrating 0-0 draw by Fulham at Anfield.
The Argentina World Cup winner wrote: “Not enough. Heads down and keep working.” His brief assessment reflected the disappointment following a match in which Liverpool struggled to break down a disciplined Fulham defence.
Mac Allister was introduced in the 59th minute as Liverpool searched for a way through, but the midfielder could not help Andoni Iraola’s side find a late winner.
Alexis Mac Allister message underlines Liverpool frustration
Liverpool controlled periods of the contest but were unable to turn their possession into a decisive goal. The result represented another two points dropped at home and followed a midweek European victory over Atlético Madrid.
The draw has added to the pressure on Iraola, who is still working to establish his preferred system and integrate summer arrivals, including Bradley Barcola, into the team.
Liverpool have shown flashes of quality but have struggled for consistency in the Premier League. Three draws have left them behind early pace-setters Arsenal and Manchester City.
Mac Allister’s post also came amid continued uncertainty over his long-term future at Anfield. The 27-year-old recently said he was “very sad” that Liverpool had not offered him a contract extension, despite reported interest from major European clubs during the summer.
With two years remaining on his current deal, Mac Allister has continued to insist on his commitment to Liverpool. His latest message made clear his view that the team must improve quickly.
