A man was taken to hospital after a SWAT operation at a home in Rockdale County, Georgia, where deputies said he had entered without permission and taken a gun.
The incident began at about 7.45pm on Friday, 25 September, when a homeowner checking security cameras saw an unauthorised family member inside the property on the 3000 block of Notting Hill Court and called 911.
Deputies who arrived at the scene believed the man was still inside. Because firearms were stored at the house, the Rockdale County Sheriff’s Office requested assistance from its SWAT team.
Officers secured a search warrant before entering the property. They searched the house but did not find the man inside.
Deputies then searched the surrounding neighbourhood and located him nearby. He was detained without incident and a gun believed to have been taken from the home was recovered.
The sheriff’s office said the man was taken directly to hospital for assessment and treatment because of his mental health history.
His name has not been released, and authorities have not yet disclosed what charges he may face.
