Manchester United have no intention of sanctioning a January loan for Leny Yoro, despite interest from AC Milan and Ruben Amorim’s reported desire to work with the defender again.
Yoro’s position at Old Trafford has come under scrutiny after his playing time became less predictable under Michael Carrick. That has encouraged Milan to explore a temporary move for the 20-year-old, but United continue to regard him as part of their long-term plans.
Manchester United reject prospect of Leny Yoro loan
Amorim is understood to be keen on a reunion with Yoro after regularly selecting him during his spell as Manchester United manager. Milan are seeking defensive reinforcements and believe that relationship could improve their chances of bringing the France international to Italy.
United, however, have little interest in helping another major European club develop one of their most valuable young players. The defender was signed from Lille in 2024 as a significant investment in the future, with INEOS continuing to believe he can become a top Premier League centre-back.
His recent senior debut for France has further strengthened the case for patience. Yoro completed the full 90 minutes in a 4-1 Nations League victory over Belgium and received positive reviews from French media.
A departure at this stage would be viewed internally as premature, particularly after a period affected by injuries, managerial changes and the pressure of a sizeable transfer fee. United’s preference is to retain him and provide a clearer route into Carrick’s side.
Milan’s interest is understandable given Amorim’s previous relationship with the player, but a January loan currently appears unlikely. United believe keeping Yoro at Old Trafford offers the most sensible route for his continued development.
Unless Yoro himself decides that a permanent change is necessary, Manchester United are expected to resist attempts to take him away during the winter transfer window.
