Paramount Skydance will be renamed Skydance when its merger with Warner Bros. Discovery closes next week, chief executive David Ellison has announced.
The change marks the latest stage in a period of significant expansion for the company, which has completed two major acquisitions in the past 18 months.
Mr Ellison said the new corporate name was intended to give the combined business its own identity while preserving Paramount and Warner Bros. as separate studios.
“Paramount and Warner Bros. shaped over a century of culture,” he said. “By combining them, we aren’t rewriting history — we’re equipping these iconic studios with a more powerful engine. Together, we are Skydance: a creative-first home for bold, quality storytelling.”
He added: “We never wanted a new corporate identity to diminish, alter or overshadow either one. Instead, we wanted a name that would give the combined company an identity of its own while allowing Paramount and Warner Bros. — and all our extraordinary brands — to remain in the spotlight.”
The combined entity is expected to release 35 films next year, according to Rentrak data. That would be the highest number from any studio since at least the turn of the century.
