A 36-year-old man has been killed and a 27-year-old woman seriously injured in a drive-by shooting at a nightclub in south Seattle.
Seattle police said multiple 911 calls were made shortly before 1am on Sunday, 11 October, reporting gunfire near the 5800 block of Fourth Avenue South, close to the Georgetown neighbourhood.
Officers who arrived at the club found the man dead. He worked as a security guard at the venue, police said. The woman had been shot in the leg and was treated at the scene before being taken to Harborview Medical Center in serious condition.
Investigators reviewing surveillance footage believe a vehicle entered the club’s car park before someone inside fired several rounds. The vehicle then left and was found fully engulfed in flames at a nearby location less than an hour later.
Detectives from Seattle’s Homicide Unit and crime-scene investigators are examining the circumstances surrounding the shooting. No suspect has been identified and police have not disclosed a possible motive.
