A 34-year-old man has died after a car crash into a tree in Western Australia’s Wheatbelt region.
The man was a passenger in a Ford Territory travelling south along Aldersyde-Pingelly Road in Pingelly when the vehicle left the road and struck a tree at about 4.30am on Saturday.
He suffered critical injuries and died at the scene. A 19-year-old man and a 20-year-old woman who were also in the car sustained non-life-threatening injuries and were taken to Pingelly Health Campus for treatment.
Police have not established which of the two survivors was driving when the crash happened. Officers from the Major Crash Investigation Section are examining the scene.
Investigators have appealed for witnesses to come forward. Information can be provided to Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000, while dashcam or mobile phone footage relating to the crash can be submitted directly to police.
