Reality TV star Kash, whose real name was Mackayla Paige, has been shot dead in downtown Oakland, California, at the age of 29. A woman has been arrested in connection with the killing.
Police said officers responded to reports of gunfire at about 1.30am on Sunday and found a woman suffering from a gunshot wound. She was taken to hospital, where she was pronounced dead.
The arrested suspect is a woman from nearby Richmond. Police have not released her identity or said what led to the shooting.
Paige had shared videos on Instagram Stories on Saturday night showing her out with friends, just hours before she was killed.
She appeared on reality programmes including Real West Coast Baddies, RoomH8z and Young & Reckless.
Her cousin, Nicky Clayton, said she was in disbelief over Paige’s death. She told KTVU that Paige had “big dreams of becoming famous and starting her own business”.
A makeshift memorial has been placed at the scene in Oakland as the investigation continues.
