A witness in the Russell Brand trial has told jurors that a friend was left in severe pain and unable to sit after an alleged rape in 2009.
Giving evidence by video link, the woman said her friend was crying and extremely distressed when she described what had allegedly happened after meeting Brand at a comedy show at the Hammersmith Apollo in London.
The witness said the woman later went to Brand’s home, where she claims consensual sexual activity turned into rape. She allegedly told her friend that Brand had repeatedly ignored her objections.
Recalling the account, the witness said her friend told her: “He forcibly put it in my bum and it really really hurt.”
Another friend told the court that the accuser had suffered injuries and alleged that Brand coldly instructed her to clean herself up before sending her away.
The court also heard that the woman feared she would not be believed if she reported the allegation to police. Statements from her parents said she had been worried about contracting HIV.
Brand faces seven charges involving six women: three counts of rape, three counts of sexual assault and one count of indecent assault. He has pleaded not guilty to all the charges and maintains that he has never had non-consensual sex with anyone.
