Samsung is shutting down its Quick Measure and AR Doodle augmented-reality apps for Galaxy phones, with support for both services due to end on 31 December 2026.
The closure is confirmed in the apps’ Galaxy Store listings. Samsung said the services would return in the future with “improved services”, but has not provided a date or details for any replacement applications.
Quick Measure uses a Galaxy phone’s camera to estimate distances and dimensions in the real world. AR Doodle allows users to draw over their surroundings through the camera, with the digital sketches appearing anchored to locations in the viewfinder.
After the shutdown date, Samsung will no longer allow new downloads or provide updates for either app. Existing users may still be able to open the software, although some features could stop working.
Samsung also warned that it would no longer guarantee compatibility with future operating-system updates. As a result, the apps could become unusable over time as Galaxy phones receive newer versions of One UI and Android.
The applications also appear to have been hidden from the Galaxy Store on recent versions of One UI, making them unavailable to some users even before the formal end of service.
In its notice to Quick Measure users, Samsung apologised for the inconvenience and thanked customers for using the app, adding that it was committed to returning with improved services in the future.
