Jeffrey Epstein allegedly described Donald Trump as “white-trash adjacent” while recounting an anecdote about the former president, according to an account from a fellow prisoner in the days before Epstein’s death.
William Mersey, now a writer and journalist, said he asked Epstein for a story that captured “Donald Trump’s essence” while the pair were speaking at the Metropolitan Correctional Center in lower Manhattan.
Epstein reportedly responded with a story involving a private jet, a French woman and Atlantic City. The account also says he later turned, without prompting, to a sordid story concerning Bill Clinton.
The claims form part of a documentary examining Epstein’s relationships with wealthy and famous figures, including Trump and Clinton. The programme says Epstein was able to draw both men, along with many others, into his orbit.
The White House was approached for comment and a spokesperson said Trump had expelled Epstein from Mar-a-Lago because he was a creep.
Representatives for Clinton were also contacted but did not respond.
