San Francisco police are investigating whether a burglary in the city’s Outer Sunset district was connected to a shooting reported about 20 minutes later.
Officers were called to the 1200 block of 22nd Avenue shortly before 5.10am on Saturday, September 26, after reports of a burglary. A person at the scene fired a gun during the incident, police said.
The suspected burglar had fled before officers arrived, and a search of the surrounding area failed to locate them.
Shortly before 5.30am, officers were sent to the 400 block of 47th Avenue in the Vista Del Mar area following reports of gunfire. They found a person suffering from a gunshot wound.
The injured person was taken to hospital with injuries that were not considered life-threatening.
San Francisco Police Department said it had not established whether the shooting and the earlier burglary were connected.
“At this time due to the active and open investigation we are not confirming the shot person is related to the burglary,” the department said in a statement.
Investigators are asking anyone with information about either incident to contact San Francisco police on 415-575-4444.
