Tobey Maguire and Jennifer Meyer have finalised their divorce, nearly 10 years after ending their relationship. The former couple were legally declared single on September 21, according to court documents filed with the Los Angeles Superior Court.
The Spider-Man actor, 51, and jewellery designer, 49, filed for divorce in 2020. Their marital status was bifurcated, allowing the dissolution of the marriage to be completed while other matters remain unresolved.
“Judgment of dissolution is entered. Marital or domestic partnership status is terminated, and the parties are restored to the status of single persons,” the documents state.
The court has reserved jurisdiction to deal with the remaining issues raised in the divorce proceedings. The nature of those matters has not been disclosed.
Maguire and Meyer have also agreed to appoint a private judge to oversee any outstanding disagreements as they work towards a wider settlement, according to documents filed by Meyer on September 16.
The couple met in 2003 while Maguire was filming the sports documentary film Seabiscuit at Universal Studios. They became engaged in April 2006 and welcomed their daughter, Ruby, in November that year.
They married in Kona, Hawaii, in September 2007 and had a son, Otis, in May 2009. Maguire and Meyer announced their separation in October 2016, after nine years of marriage, before Meyer filed for divorce four years later.
