Donald Trump has endorsed Benjamin Netanyahu for another term as Israeli prime minister, days before Israel’s election on October 27.
In a message on Truth Social, Mr Trump addressed “the Great People of Israel” and described Mr Netanyahu as “Strong, Brave, and Brilliant.”
The US president also linked his support for Mr Netanyahu to the Iran War, saying: “If Israel has the wrong Leader, which would be anyone other than Bibi, America will have to do this work ourselves, and I am not inclined to do so.”
Mr Trump and Mr Netanyahu have maintained a close working relationship for years, with the Israeli prime minister praising the US president as a strong friend of Israel.
Mr Netanyahu is seeking another four-year term. The position is renewable indefinitely.
Mr Trump’s intervention comes as the Israeli prime minister campaigns ahead of polling day, with the US president making clear that he regards Mr Netanyahu as the only acceptable choice for Israel’s leadership.
