Washington DC is set for a final burst of summer-like warmth on Friday, October 2, with temperatures expected to reach about 88F (31C) before showers and thunderstorms move into the area later in the day.
The National Weather Service forecast mostly sunny conditions through the morning, with a chance of showers from the late afternoon and a slight risk of thunderstorms. The chance of rain is forecast at 30 per cent during the day.
Showers are expected to become more likely on Friday evening, when the risk of rain rises to 60 per cent. Temperatures will fall to about 61F (16C) overnight as skies turn mostly cloudy.
The warm conditions are expected to give way to cooler weather on Saturday, with morning showers possible and highs forecast to reach only the upper 60s.
