The death investigation into AEW wrestler PAC has found no signs of foul play, police in Illinois said, although the cause and manner of his death remain pending.
The Des Plaines Police Department said the person found dead in the city on Sunday had been identified as Benjamin Satterley, the professional wrestler’s real name. Investigators do not believe a criminal act took place.
Satterley was found unresponsive inside a vehicle in a restaurant car park in Des Plaines at about 4pm, according to reports. Witnesses said customers noticed him in the vehicle and called emergency services.
He was pronounced dead shortly afterwards, aged 40.
The Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office has carried out an autopsy, but further testing could take several weeks. Police said the cause and manner of death would be determined after the additional examination.
PAC’s death came less than a day after he wrestled at AEW’s All Out event in Chicago. He challenged Andrade for the AEW National Championship and later appeared again during the main event.
The Newcastle-born wrestler began his career in 2004 and joined AEW in 2019. He became the company’s inaugural All-Atlantic Champion and a two-time World Trios Champion.
Before joining AEW, Satterley competed in WWE under the name Neville, winning the NXT Championship and holding the Cruiserweight title twice.
