Amanda Seyfried has revealed that she turned down a TV role because it would have required her to have sex on screen repeatedly.
The actress discussed her decision while appearing on a panel at the Hamptons International Film Festival earlier this month, telling host Alec Baldwin that she was uncomfortable with the project’s intimate scenes.
“I passed on a show where I would have to have sex all the time because of the sex,” Seyfried said. “Doesn’t matter [who it’s with] … I don’t wanna do it. I’m uncomfortable with it. I’m not into it right now.”
The 40-year-old added that she might feel differently if the project came back to her at another point, but said: “I don’t wanna deal with being naked with a stranger.”
Amanda Seyfried on changing attitude to intimate scenes
Seyfried, who has appeared in television series including Long Bright River, The Crowded Room, The Dropout, Twin Peaks and Big Love, said her attitude towards on-screen intimacy had changed as she had got older.
“Sometimes it’s great. Sometimes it’s really uncomfortable,” she said. Recalling her earlier approach to such scenes, she added: “I can’t believe back in the day I was just like, ‘We gotta make out. Great! This is awesome. I know how to make out.’”
“And it used to be so fun,” Seyfried continued. “It was a non-thing. It was like, ‘I get to make out with a hot person today … And they’re paying me.’”
