Three people are being offered $10,000 each to spend 10 days exploring St Pete-Clearwater in Florida and documenting their experiences for social media.
The contract roles, created by tourism organisation Visit St Pete-Clearwater, are intended to showcase Pinellas County’s food, arts, nightlife and entertainment scene. Airfare and accommodation will also be covered.
Three $10,000 tourism roles
The successful applicants will take on one of three jobs: Chief Flavor Explorer, Chief Sunset Curator or Chief Vibes Officer.
The first role will focus on the area’s restaurants and culinary scene. The sunset post will cover museums, murals, colourful neighbourhoods and Gulf Coast views, while the vibes role will concentrate on live music, nightlife and entertainment.
Those chosen will follow individual itineraries across Pinellas County, while also working together on some assignments. They will be expected to appear on camera, create content and explain what makes the destination distinctive.
Visit St Pete-Clearwater chief marketing officer Steve Grimes said the positions were genuine paid contracts.
“I promise you they are real jobs,” he said. “We really are paying people $10,000.”
The Dalí Museum is among the attractions expected to feature in the campaign. Its chief marketing officer, Beth Bell, said the project could encourage visitors to discover parts of the area they might otherwise miss.
More than 3,000 people had applied by the time of the announcement, according to Visit St Pete-Clearwater.
Applications close on October 22
Applicants must be at least 21 and submit a two-minute video explaining why they are suited to the role. Entries will be assessed on factors including storytelling, originality, video presentation, social media engagement and previous content creation.
The positions are independent-contractor roles, with a $10,000 payment for the 10-day assignment. The work must be completed in the destination between November 6 and November 22, 2026.
Applications close on October 22. Visit St Pete-Clearwater said there is no fee to apply, although submitting an application does not guarantee an interview or appointment.
