Arsenal could face competition from Aston Villa in the race to sign Real Madrid forward Endrick, with the Brazil international’s future reportedly uncertain ahead of the January transfer window.
The 20-year-old has struggled to secure regular football at the Bernabeu since returning from a loan spell at Lyon, which began midway through last season. His limited opportunities have prompted renewed speculation that he could move on again.
Arsenal have been linked with Endrick for some time, but Spanish outlet Cadena SER reports that Aston Villa are now among the leading contenders for his signature.
Aston Villa competition for Endrick
Endrick is said to have failed to convince new Real Madrid manager Jose Mourinho, although competition for places in the club’s squad is considerable.
The forward remains highly regarded despite his current difficulties. Former Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti previously described him as “spectacular”, and now works with him at international level for Brazil.
A move away from Madrid could give Endrick the regular playing time he needs to revive his progress. His early move to the Spanish giants may now appear to have come too soon, with a spell at a club offering more consistent first-team football potentially beneficial.
Arsenal could use greater attacking depth, but Endrick’s recent struggles may make the Gunners more cautious about pursuing a deal. Aston Villa, meanwhile, could offer an attractive project and Champions League football under Unai Emery.
It remains to be seen whether Arsenal will make a firm approach for Endrick in January, or whether Villa will take advantage of the uncertainty surrounding his position at Real Madrid.
