Arsenal are preparing an official bid for Corinthians midfielder Breno Bidon as they attempt to secure one of Brazil’s most highly rated young prospects, according to reports.
The 21-year-old has already made more than 100 appearances for the Brazilian club, despite his age, and has been monitored by Arsenal for almost a year. The north London side are now understood to be ready to formalise their interest.
Arsenal prepare bid for Breno Bidon
Corinthians were previously believed to value Bidon at about £40 million. However, the club are reportedly prepared to consider offers of around €25 million, or £21 million, potentially creating an opportunity for Arsenal to move before his price increases.
Bidon’s profile has risen further after he made his senior Brazil debut under Carlo Ancelotti. That step is expected to attract additional interest from clubs across Europe, increasing the urgency for Arsenal if they decide to proceed with negotiations.
The midfielder has made no secret of his ambition to move to Europe and compete in the Champions League. A transfer to Arsenal could therefore appeal to a player who is seeking to advance his career at the highest level.
Bidon has also spoken positively about Bruno Guimaraes, with whom he recently joined up in the Brazil squad. That existing connection could work in Arsenal’s favour as they consider whether to push ahead with their pursuit.
A move for Bidon would fit Arsenal’s efforts to invest in promising South American talent. His experience with Corinthians could offer immediate competition in midfield, while his age leaves room for further development.
Reports indicate that Corinthians would be unlikely to reject a bid above £21 million, leaving Arsenal with a potentially affordable route to signing the emerging Brazilian midfielder.
