David Raya has admitted he would like to play in La Liga in the future, despite insisting that he is currently happy at Arsenal.
The Spain international has never appeared in the Spanish top flight, having moved to England early in his career. He joined Blackburn Rovers in 2012 before later playing for Brentford and moving to Arsenal in 2023.
David Raya opens door to La Liga move
Raya, who is under contract with Arsenal until 2028, said he would welcome the opportunity to experience Spanish football at some stage.
“Yes, I would love to. I would love to try out LaLiga. For now, I’m very happy here [at Arsenal], but I would certainly like to experience the Spanish league,” he said.
“I think it’s a very competitive league. Perhaps, in the future, I could play for a Spanish club. I’m Spanish, and I’d love to play there — that’s for sure.”
The 31-year-old is reportedly a boyhood Real Madrid supporter, potentially adding interest to any future move to Spain if the club were to require a new goalkeeper.
For now, Raya remains Arsenal’s first-choice goalkeeper and played a key role as the club won the Premier League title last season. However, there have not yet been talks over a new contract, while Arsenal previously showed strong interest in Joan Garcia before his move to Barcelona.
