Bijan Robinson ran for 194 yards and two touchdowns as the Atlanta Falcons dismantled the Green Bay Packers 35-14 at Lambeau Field on Thursday night.
The victory saw Atlanta overturn an early deficit with 27 unanswered points, while Green Bay lost its first home opener since 2013. Both teams finished the third week of the NFL season with 1-2 records.
Bijan Robinson drives Falcons to victory
Robinson carried the ball 29 times, including a 55-yard burst that set up his first touchdown. He later added a two-yard scoring run in the fourth quarter to complete a dominant performance on the ground.
Atlanta accumulated 498 yards and recorded 25 first downs, controlling possession for more than 37 minutes. The Falcons also converted six of their 10 third-down opportunities as they steadily pulled away from their hosts.
Drake London provided another major outlet, catching nine passes for 194 yards. Brian Robinson added 50 rushing yards and a touchdown, while Nick Folk kicked field goals from 44 and 31 yards.
Michael Penix Jr, returning from a knee injury, completed 18 of 25 passes for 256 yards and a touchdown. His scoring pass went to Austin Hooper, who gave Atlanta a 17-7 lead shortly before half-time.
Packers struggle to contain Atlanta
Green Bay opened the scoring when Christian Watson caught a touchdown pass from Jordan Love, but the Packers struggled to maintain momentum after the first quarter.
Love finished with 312 yards and two touchdowns from 28 of 53 passing, alongside one interception. Matthew Golden made five catches for 100 yards and a score, while Watson caught seven passes for 96 yards and a touchdown.
The Packers managed only 17 rushing yards. Their difficulties were compounded when a field-goal attempt was blocked and a fourth-down opportunity in the red zone ended without points.
Atlanta led 17-7 at half-time and extended the advantage to 24-7 in the third quarter when Brian Robinson crossed the goal line. Folk’s second field goal made it 27-7 before Golden briefly reduced the deficit with a fourth-quarter touchdown.
Any prospect of a comeback ended when Bijan Robinson scored again with three minutes and 33 seconds remaining, after a successful two-point conversion.
The Falcons travel to New Orleans to face the Saints on October 5, while the Packers visit the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on October 4.
