A California couple linked to a surrogacy case has been arrested and charged with conspiracy to commit child abuse and dissuading a witness, according to the Los Angeles district attorney.
Guojun Xuan and Silvia Zhang were taken into custody on Tuesday, a law enforcement source confirmed. Nathan J Hochman is seeking bail of 100 million dollars for each of them.
The pair came to national attention after authorities raided their mansion in Arcadia in July 2025 and took 21 children into state custody. Most of the children were born through surrogacy.
An FBI spokesperson in Los Angeles said the agency had served a search warrant at the property, separately from a search carried out by the sheriff’s department.
A neighbour said helicopters and police were seen at the mansion, while the entire block was cordoned off.
