Casey Donovan is pregnant with her first child and is expecting a baby with her partner, Renee Sharples, in February 2027.
The 38-year-old Australian singer and actress announced the news on Instagram, sharing a photograph of the couple holding ultrasound images. Donovan was also pictured with a brown baby suit bearing the words “cool bubs club”.
“After extensive research, clinical assessment and absolutely no musical rehearsal… Baby arriving February 2027,” she wrote.
Donovan’s pregnancy follows an IVF journey with Sharples, who she has been with for six years. The couple began treatment towards the end of 2025, undergoing egg retrieval and fertilisation using sperm from a donor before the eggs were cultured into embryos.
Donovan, who is coming up to 22 weeks pregnant, was always intended to carry the baby. She was diagnosed as a teenager with polyendocrine metabolic ovarian syndrome, formerly known as polycystic ovary syndrome.
The Australian Idol winner said she had been told from the age of 14 that becoming a mother could be difficult.
“I’m feeling so many emotions right now,” Donovan told the Daily Telegraph. “I’ve been told since I was a young girl that falling pregnant was going to be a massive issue or if it would ever happen at all, so I went into this going, ‘It’s not going to work, nothing’s going to.’”
She added: “I was told it may be difficult to conceive a child, hold a child and, yeah, give birth. I still don’t believe it.”
Thousands of fans and celebrity friends congratulated Donovan and Sharples after the pregnancy announcement. Brendan Fevola, Zan Rowe and Dami Im were among those to share messages, while Sam Mac, Ricki-Lee Coulter, Em Rusciano and Gisella Colletti also celebrated the news.
Donovan is currently touring Australia on a 50-date run of her This Is Me shows, with the final performance scheduled for Melbourne on November 14.
