Casey Donovan has announced that she is pregnant with her first child, who is due to arrive in February 2027. The Australian singer and actress shared the news with her partner, Renee Sharples, in a post on Instagram.
The couple were pictured holding ultrasound images, while Donovan also displayed a brown baby suit bearing the words “cool bubs club”. “After extensive research, clinical assessment and absolutely no musical rehearsal… Baby arriving February 2027,” she wrote.
Casey Donovan’s IVF journey
Donovan, 38, said she had been warned from the age of 14 that becoming a mother could be difficult. She was diagnosed as a teenager with polyendocrine metabolic ovarian syndrome, formerly known as polycystic ovary syndrome.
“I’m feeling so many emotions right now,” Donovan said. “I’ve been told since I was a young girl that falling pregnant was going to be a massive issue or if it would ever happen at all, so I went into this going, ‘It’s not going to work, nothing’s going to.’”
She added: “I was told it may be difficult to conceive a child, hold a child and, yeah, give birth. I still don’t believe it.”
Donovan and Sharples, who have been together for six years, began their IVF journey at the end of 2025. The process involved egg retrieval and fertilisation using sperm from a donor, before the eggs were cultured into embryos.
Donovan was always intended to carry the pregnancy and is approaching 22 weeks. The Sister Act The Musical star’s announcement prompted messages of congratulations from celebrity friends and fans, including Brendan Fevola, Zan Rowe and Dami Im.
Sam Mac, Ricki-Lee Coulter, Em Rusciano and Gisella Colletti were also among those celebrating the news. Donovan is currently touring Australia with her 50-date This Is Me run, which is due to conclude in Melbourne on November 14.
