Jessica Chastain has shared a playful text exchange with Jeremy Strong after her film Other Mommy opened significantly ahead of his film The Social Reckoning at the global box office.
The actors, who have been friends for decades and previously appeared together in Zero Dark Thirty and Molly’s Game, exchanged jokes about the contrasting performances of their films.
Other Mommy took $45.2 million worldwide in its opening weekend, while The Social Reckoning made $9 million globally.
Strong sent Chastain an article with the headline, “Other Mommy Spanks The Social Reckoning at the Box Office”. The accompanying image featured both actors in character, and Strong added a middle-finger emoji and a kissing emoji.
Chastain replied: “These pics are hysterical.” Strong responded: “It’s so funny.”
Chastain then told her co-star he looked “SO SAD” in the image. Strong answered that she looked “INSANE”.
Chastain shared the exchange on her Instagram Story, offering a glimpse of the pair’s good-humoured reaction to their films going head-to-head.
