Dakota Johnson has confirmed that she wrote “Slut!” beneath Jennifer Lawrence’s first public Instagram post, explaining that the one-word expletive was an affectionate joke between the friends.
Lawrence joined Instagram in early September and used her first Reel to jokingly threaten to leave the platform if users posted anything negative about her.
Johnson’s comment was captured in a screenshot, but appeared to become difficult to find among the volume of replies. Instagram seemingly hid it for being offensive, leaving some people questioning whether the image was genuine.
Speaking to Vogue, Johnson confirmed that she had posted the comment and said it was prompted by the earnest tone of Lawrence’s video.
“I did comment on Jen Lawrence’s post recently,” she said.
Johnson then recalled filming Lawrence while she was walking past her house in New York, where Johnson was filming a movie. She said she opened a top-floor window and shouted: “Slut!”
She added: “I have a really amazing video of her walking down the street and she was like, ‘Oh, I’m walking by your house.’ I was living in New York filming a movie and so I like, open the top floor window and just was like, ‘Slut!’ And I filmed it and it was so funny. She was just like [looks confused]. Hopefully that ends up on the internet one day.”
