Two former FBI officials have been charged with lying to Congress over their roles in investigations into Hunter Biden’s laptop during the 2020 election, the US attorney for the District of Columbia has said.
Nikki Floris, 46, and Bradley Benavides, 56, were each charged in a criminal complaint with one count of lying to Congress, according to Jeanine Pirro.
Pirro said the pair had been senior officials on the FBI’s Foreign Influence Task Force and were questioned about their involvement in the agency’s investigations into Joe Biden’s son.
She said one of the former officials claimed to have learned about the investigation from Wikipedia. However, evidence showed their involvement in helping shape the public narrative surrounding Hunter Biden’s laptop shortly before the election, she said.
The allegations concern the former officials’ roles in the FBI’s Hunter Biden investigations and their subsequent accounts to Congress.
