A Marcus Rashford to Everton move is reportedly being discussed ahead of the January transfer window, with former Toffees chief executive Keith Wyness suggesting the Manchester United forward could be seeking a change of environment.
Rashford, 28, has found opportunities limited under Michael Carrick during the opening months of the 2026/27 campaign. He is yet to score in any competition this season and has struggled to establish himself as a regular starter.
Marcus Rashford to Everton move discussed
Wyness believes Everton could provide Rashford with the platform to regain his form, pointing to the forward’s previous loan spells at Aston Villa and Barcelona as evidence that a move away from Old Trafford may benefit him.
Speaking to Football Insider, Wyness said: “This is definitely being talked about and quite strongly, and I think that could be an interesting solution. Rashford did well when he was on loan at Villa and at Barcelona as well.
“I think it could work, and I think being close to where he is in Manchester, just along the M63, could also benefit him greatly as well.
“We’ve seen Jack (Grealish) moving across that way as well, and when he’s fit, Jack is certainly a big asset for Everton.
“So I think Rashford would be a very interesting signing, and I’m hearing there’s a lot of smoke here; it’s definitely being discussed. I wouldn’t be surprised to see something happening in January.”
Rashford’s uncertain position comes as Manchester United endure a disappointing run of results. The club sit 14th in the Premier League after a 3-0 home defeat against Bournemouth, while Carrick is under mounting pressure to find attacking solutions.
A January departure could give Rashford the prospect of more consistent playing time, while a move to Everton would represent a significant statement of intent for the club.
