A 17-year-old girl was killed in a two-vehicle crash in Putnam County, Georgia, on Friday afternoon, the sheriff’s office said.
Katherine Elizabeth Abernathy, from Eatonton, was driving an SUV when the collision happened at about 4.42pm on Greensboro Road, also known as Georgia State Route 44, at the junction with Loch Way.
Deputies said Ms Abernathy had turned on to Greensboro Road from Loch Way and moved into the path of a northbound pick-up truck. The crash site was about six miles north of Eatonton.
Ms Abernathy died at the scene. The truck was being driven by a 21-year-old from Buckhead, who was taken by private vehicle to Piedmont Athens Regional Medical Centre with a suspected broken arm.
The Putnam County Sheriff’s Office said the official cause of the crash remained under investigation.
