General Motors is due to unveil its third-quarter results on Tuesday, with investors assessing whether the carmaker will raise its 2026 outlook amid concerns about slowing sales and higher commodity costs.
Analysts surveyed by LSEG expect adjusted earnings of $3.63 a share and revenue of $48.70 billion. That would represent broadly unchanged revenue from the same quarter last year, but a rise of about 30% in adjusted earnings per share.
GM reported revenue of $48.59 billion in the third quarter of 2025, along with net income attributable to stockholders of $1.3 billion and adjusted earnings per share of $2.80.
The company has increased its forecast during the year, but analysts are divided over whether it will do so again. Its outlook, raised alongside its second-quarter results, includes adjusted earnings before interest and taxes of between $14 billion and $16 billion, or adjusted earnings per share of $12 to $14.
GM also expects adjusted automotive free cash flow of between $9.5 billion and $11.5 billion for 2026.
Rajat Gupta, an analyst at JPMorgan, said the results were expected to be “in-line to slightly better” but added that investor attention was likely to turn to revisions for 2027, with no meaningful boost expected from the figures.
Investors will also look for updates on the launch of redesigned full-size pick-up trucks, improvements to warranty performance and growth in GM’s software and services operations.
