Italy’s air traffic capacity was fully restored on Friday after an overnight disruption to the data transmission network supporting air traffic control services nationwide, ENAV said.
The air navigation company said it had transferred operations to a secondary satellite network, enabling capacity to be increased steadily after it had been reduced by up to 50% earlier in the morning.
ENAV said flight operations remained safe and ruled out a cyberattack.
The disruption caused delays at airports across Italy, including Rome’s Fiumicino airport and airports serving Milan and Bergamo.
