Jada Pinkett Smith has asked a judge to order Will Smith’s former friend Bilaal Salaam to undergo a lengthy mental examination in response to his lawsuit against her.
Court documents say the actress wants a doctor to assess Salaam’s claims that he suffered emotional distress as a result of her alleged conduct. She argues that his mental and emotional condition is central to the case.
Salaam is seeking 3 million US dollars in damages. He alleges that Pinkett Smith threatened him and caused severe emotional distress.
Among his claims are that he was forced to live overseas because of fear, lost a long-term romantic partner and developed high blood pressure.
Pinkett Smith says those allegations justify an examination lasting between five and six hours, to determine whether Salaam is suffering from the conditions he has described and, if so, to what extent.
Salaam has also alleged that Pinkett Smith and other friends targeted him after he declined to help Will Smith deal with the fallout from the Chris Rock incident.
He further claims they became angry after learning that he planned to write a memoir which would mention Will Smith.
