Kate Beckinsale has prompted concern among fans after posting a series of cryptic messages on Instagram, including the words “Congratulations you won. I give up.”
The Underworld actress, 53, shared a black graphic bearing the word “bye” on Sunday night. She also posted an image of a rainbow at the end of a street alongside the message.
Both posts have since been deleted, and it is unclear what Beckinsale was referring to. Followers nevertheless expressed concern, with one writing: “I hope she’s okay.”
Another social media user said: “I’m just really hoping somebody takes this seriously and is reaching out to her!”

The messages came around a month after Beckinsale deleted all of her Instagram posts. She had previously faced criticism about her appearance, including accusations that she had used weight-loss drugs and demands that she “gain weight”.
Beckinsale responded by describing the impact of losing her mother, Judy Loe, in 2025. Her stepfather, Roy Battersby, died in 2024.
“You take a break from Instagram for several months following the death of your mother,” she said in a series of Instagram stories.
“Delete all of your posts and explain in some considerable detail about why you may have lost weight including the fact that weight loss is one of the very first physical signs of bereavement.
“I think people might be broken.”
Beckinsale also said she had been diagnosed with mast cell activation syndrome, an autoimmune condition, 16 years ago, and asked people to show greater consideration online.
“Treat people just how you’d like to be treated yourself, give people a little grace. If you don’t have anything nice to say, maybe don’t say anything,” she said.
Her Instagram profile still includes a link to a BBC story about Caroline Flack, the British television presenter who died by suicide in February 2020 aged 40.
