Daniel Kretinsky is set to become West Ham United’s largest shareholder after agreeing a deal to acquire an additional stake in the club from the Gold family.
The Czech billionaire’s holding is expected to rise from 27 per cent to approximately 43 per cent, taking it beyond David Sullivan’s current 38.8 per cent shareholding.
The transaction remains subject to the exercise of pre-emption rights by other shareholders and the necessary approvals. Vanessa Gold, who inherited her late father David Gold’s interest in West Ham, will retain a stake in the club.
Kretinsky and Gold said the agreement was intended to strengthen the Hammers as they seek an immediate return to the Premier League following relegation.
They also outlined ambitions to stabilise the club, retain as many of the squad’s key players as possible and support manager Nuno Espírito Santo’s efforts to lead West Ham back into the top flight.
Kretinsky first acquired a 27 per cent stake in West Ham in 2021 through his investment vehicle, 1890s Holdings. Completion of the latest deal would make the group the club’s biggest shareholder.
