Magnus Ferrell has released a new version of his song “Asleep Talking”, featuring additional vocals and a new verse from rising pop singer Kylie Cantrall.
The 22-year-old singer, who is the son of actor Will Ferrell, shared the updated track on Friday, October 2. Cantrall performs the song’s second verse, adding a new perspective to the collaboration.
“Asleep Talking” was originally released earlier this year and received a significant boost after Will Ferrell played a snippet during an appearance on Michelle Obama’s IMO podcast.
Following the mention, Magnus Ferrell’s Instagram following rose by 500 per cent, while daily streams of the track increased by 2,700 per cent.
The song subsequently became Ferrell’s first track to appear on a Billboard chart, debuting at number 24 on the Digital Song Sales chart in July.
“Asleep Talking” is included on Ferrell’s new EP, Groove Therapy, which was released just over a week ago.
“Groove Therapy is my favourite collection of songs I’ve ever made. I had so much fun making it, and I hope people have just as much fun listening to it,” Ferrell said in a statement.
After the EP’s release, Ferrell began touring as the opening act for the Jonas Brothers on their Burning Up Tour All Over Again.
