Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur have stepped up their interest in Club Brugge striker Nicolò Tresoldi after sending scouts to watch the Germany Under-21 international in the Champions League.
Representatives of both Premier League clubs were present at Jan Breydel Stadium on Tuesday, September 8, as Club Brugge lost 3-2 to Aston Villa. Tresoldi scored from the penalty spot in the second half, underlining why he has attracted growing attention across Europe.
Neither club has opened formal negotiations with Club Brugge, but both are understood to be gathering information ahead of a possible move in 2027. Manchester United also used the visit to continue monitoring full-back Joaquin Seys, who was previously on their radar.
Manchester United and Tottenham monitor Nicolò Tresoldi
Tresoldi, 22, has developed rapidly since joining Club Brugge from Hannover 96 in 2025. He finished last season as the Belgian Pro League’s leading scorer with 19 goals and has continued to enhance his reputation during the opening weeks of the new campaign.
United view the forward as a potential long-term addition to their attack, particularly with Joshua Zirkzee’s future at Old Trafford uncertain. The Netherlands international attracted interest from Juventus, Fiorentina and Everton during the summer and could consider a move in January or at the end of the season if his opportunities remain limited.
Tottenham are also tracking Tresoldi as head coach Roberto De Zerbi continues to reshape his forward line. The striker’s ability to lead the attack, link play and contribute goals has made him an attractive option for clubs looking for a player with room to develop.
Club Brugge’s stance is likely to make any deal expensive. Tresoldi is under contract until 2029 and is valued at between €45 million and €50m, equivalent to roughly £39m-£43m.
For United, that figure would represent a significant investment in a player with limited Premier League experience. Benjamin Sesko remains their leading striker, meaning Tresoldi would initially be expected to provide competition rather than arrive as an automatic starter.
The scouting mission nevertheless signals that both clubs are assessing the forward well before any formal approach. Tresoldi’s performance against Aston Villa will have done little to diminish the interest surrounding one of Belgian football’s most closely watched young strikers.
